Key resume elements

Recruiters and hiring managers often go through hundreds of resumes, so it’s important that you ‘get to the point’ and give us all the relevant information we’ll need about you up front, so that your resume stands out from the crowd.

All resumes should include the following key elements:

  • A chronological format of your work experience – starting with your most recent job experience, lay out your dates of employment, names of employers and job titles clearly,
  • An overview of your education, including certification, degrees, and relevant courses
  • A clear, concise description of your skills, qualifications and experience
  • Avoid typos or spelling mistakes. Proofread carefully and be sure to use your spell-check
  • Information that is accurate – avoid misleading, vague or untrue information
  • Use basic, fonts and logical layout. Stay away from fancy fonts and designs that can distract our focus away from your qualifications
